This bag is a really cute everyday and evening bag. It's about the same
size as the Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC, so there isn't a ton of space, but
enough to fit a phone, wallet, and a few other small things (lipstick,
compact, etc.). The leather is nice and looks expensive.

Are you looking for easy homemade Christmas gifts ideas? You'll love these simple and fun gift ideas. You're sure to think of someone who each gift will fit perfectly! Make a list and get busy. There is so much hype behind the holidays that it's difficult to find joy in the giving part of Christmas. Too much money is spent and gifts are bought just because you feel guilt if you don't join in the gift-giving festivities.
Well, this year give loved ones homemade Christmas gifts! They'll know you were thinking of them specifically as they open a gift tailored to their likes or hobbies. Enjoy a year without the financial guilt that seems to go along with the New Year! (And I'm sure that your friends and family will appreciate your thoughtfulness.)
3 Easy Homemade Christmas Gifts You Can Make
Use these examples as guides to start thinking about all the things you can do:
No-sew blanket
Yes, that's right - no sewing involved! Grab a sharp pair of shears, two pieces of fleece fabric, and you can have a blanket completed in roughly two hours. You'll need four yards of fleece total - two yards each of two different fabric patterns. Square the edges of the fabrics and lay them together, wrong sides facing. Line up the edges and trim any excess off so that both fabrics are the same size. Cut out a 6-inch square from each corner of the fabrics.
Now, beginning on one corner of the quilt, begin making cuts 1 to 1- inches over from the corner. Make the cuts up as far as the line of the cut out square and continue around the entire quilt until you have fringe all around. Tie each "set" of fringe together in a knot until you've tied each one securely. Now you have a beautiful blanket for a child or an adult! Depending on the prices of fleece, this isn't necessarily a super-cheap Christmas craft idea, but if you keep your eyes on the sales flyers throughout the year, you'll see fleece go on sale for a decent price.
Homemade Stepping Stones for the Garden
This is an excellent gift for grandparents and parents or aunts and uncles. Buy some quick concrete at the home improvement store. Decide what shape you want your stones to be and get either plastic or aluminum pie pans for round ones or pizza or used shipping boxes for square ones. Make sure the container is clean and at least 2 inches deep. Mix the quick concrete according to the instructions. The consistency should remind you of creamy peanut butter. Press the concrete into the pie pans or pizza boxes, making sure it is distributed evenly. Allow the mixture to set for a few minutes before attempting to add embellishments to it. Once it begins to set, press your decorations into the mix, creating a picture or a scattered pattern. Broken china or dishes are great for making mosaic patterns. Or, have a child press her hand into the mold and then decorate it with gems or stones. Be sure to "sign" the stone using a skewer. Concrete stepping stones can be painted and sealed too if you would rather not press any objects into the concrete.
There are stepping stone kits at your local craft store but starting with a big bag of concrete is definitely the cheapest way to go.
Photo Calendars
Choose 12 or more of your favorite photographs from the year. Get them printed and then begin creating the calendar. You can use card stock or construction paper for your calendar pages. Trace or print blank calendar pages for the bottom half of the calendar. On the top of each page, place one or more photographs and then place the blank calendar underneath. Label each page with the appropriate month. Write in family birthdays on the calendar. Add fun sayings or quotes around the photos. Head to your local school supply store and have your project laminated. It will be a keepsake for years to come!
If you have trouble finding a source of inexpensive laminating, try asking any homeschooling Mom you know - they usually know the absolute best places for laminating since they have to do so much of it. (As an alternative, there are companies like Vista Print who will print items for only shipping - that's a great deal as well!)
Have fun making your easy homemade Christmas gifts this year and most of all; enjoy the looks of joy on the faces of family and friends when they discover what you've been up to!

If you're an avid quilt collector, you know the importance of keeping your quilt collection in a tip-top shape. An antique quilt is an investment, a family heirloom, and a window into our past. If you own antique quilts preserving them is your duty and your responsibility. Here are three very useful tips for guarding and retaining the beauty of your quilt treasures.
Displaying - Are you a big fan of displaying family quilts on walls? If you like hanging them up as part of your room décor, you will need to remember that even the most modern, brightly colored quilt will fade if put in direct sunlight; try to imagine what a disaster that will be for an antique quilt. To avoid damaging your precious heirloom keep it away from windows and direct sunlight. If you have a very large quilt, or a very heavy one, you should consider buying a quilt rack to avoid stretching and tearing of the fabric. Even baby quilts can benefit from hanging on a quilt rack instead of by thumbtacks. However, if you are determined to have the quilt on the wall, the safest thing to do is to sew a sleeve to the top side of the quilt and run a tube through it.
Cleaning - Households and regular dry cleaners are not equipped to wash and clean antique quilts. Do not attempt any DIY cleaning techniques especially with silk quilts as they will disintegrate in front of your eyes. A vintage quilt with stains has value; a pile of clean fabric patches does not! Even newer quilts should be treated gently - washing machines, harsh chemicals and dryers are not their best friends.
Storing - Storing should be done with just as much care. They do need to breathe, so plastic bags are not an option. Instead, choose an acid-free box and keep quilts from touching each other. Use acid-free paper in the folds and air and refold unused quilts at least 6 times a year. Museums store their quilts by wrapping them around a foil wrapped cardboard tube, and then covering them with a cotton sheet. Keep them at a temperature around 70 degrees and avoid humidity and direct sunlight. Quilts are delicate - even baby quilts which are generally sturdier can suffer a lot of damage if not treated properly. Don't put heirloom quilts near pets or babies. If you can't trust them to treat them well, don't let them near.
If you are looking to sell your antique quilt or simply curious about its value, don't trust just anyone to appraise it but seek the opinion of a certified quilt appraiser. Also, keep a written account of the quilt's history. It's a great way to pass the quilt's life story to the next generations.

What's In My Bag?
When you're looking for free Sunday school lessons for children you really have to pay close attention to the age of the children that you'll be teaching! One great teaching method is playing games that the kids already know but with a Biblical twist. There are many appropriate games for kids that are three to six years old.
Colors of the Rainbow
"Colors of the Rainbow" is a game that'll make the kids running around to find a seat on Noah's Ark. Before you begin the game, introduce the story. All you'll need to do to prepare is place chairs in the middle of the room in a circle, having one less chair then you do children. One of the kids should stand in the middle and the others should sit down on the chairs.
The child in the middle will say, "I see a beautiful rainbow and in it I see the color ____." He or she will pick a color of the rainbow and then any of the kids that are wearing anything with that color should stand up. If you have a CD player at hand, it'll be helpful. Along with the kid that was in the middle, the children that are standing up will start to move around the chairs while you play some music. Then, when you stop the music, everyone has to find a seat.
If you don't have music to play then you can have the kids run around until you tell them to stop. The kid that doesn't find a chair will be the next 1 to go in the middle. Try to continue playing until all of the kids have had a chance to be the caller.
Orange You Special
When you're looking for free Sunday school lessons for children you want to find specific games or activities to use, not generalities. "Orange You Special" is a perfect game for little kids because it has religious elements and it'll also make the kids feel good.
This activity covers the topics of creation, love and self worth. You'll need to bring a bag of oranges. All of the kids should take one. Instruct the kids to be gentle with their oranges and to carefully examine them. Ask them to look for specific details that would help them to tell their orange apart from the others. After a few minutes, collect the oranges and scatter them on a table. Then, have the kids come up and see if they can find their orange.
For very young children you can have them draw faces on their oranges beforehand. You'll tell them this: "All of us are different in one way or another but we are all made by God and he knows all of us very well. God knows everything about us and he never confuses us. We are all special to him and he wants us to love one another regardless of how we look or act. An orange is sweet no matter who is eating it. Therefore, we should always be kind to others no matter what. Now, let us eat our oranges."
"Colors of the Rainbow" and "Orange You Special" are free Sunday school lessons for children that will keep their attention and be enjoyable. These are activities that the children will never forget.

Painting on Fabric With Acrylic Fabric Paints - A Beginner's Guide
Painting on fabric is easy and inexpensive, and it opens up exciting new creative horizons for sewers and quilters, fine arts painters, scrapbookers, and mixed-media artists..
If you've never tried painting on fabric before, you may have questions about how to get started. Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about fabric painting.
What kinds of paint can I use to paint on fabric?
Oil paints and acrylic paints can both be used for fabric painting, but acrylic fabric paints are much easier for a beginner to use than oils. They are inexpensive, they don't require any chemical solvents for cleanup (unlike oil paints), and they are easy to find at art stores, large craft stores, or even quilt shops.
What's in an acrylic fabric paint?
Acrylic paints consist of colors mixed into an acrylic fluid that is designed for use on fabric. Some acrylic paints are stiff enough to create 3-D brush stroke effects on the fabric. Others are thin and have a watery consistency, like watercolor paints. Acrylic paints can be thinned with water, but that makes the color paler. You can also thin or thicken your paint without changing its color by mixing it with a fluid called fabric medium or gel medium.
What types of fabric can I paint?
Really, you can paint just about any woven, knitted, or nonwoven fabric. The list includes cotton, linen, rayon, wool, silk, most synthetics, terry cloth, and velvet or velveteen. You can also paint with fabric paints on many interfacings, quilt batting, leather, or suede. When in doubt, test the surface before you start a full-scale project.
Can I wash painted fabric? How long will it last?
As long as you follow the paint manufacturer's instructions for drying and curing the paint, most painted fabrics can be washed. The paints will typically last as long as the fabric does. The more gently you wash (hand washing and drip drying instead of machine washing, for instance) the better the paint should wear. For most fabrics, the paint can be machine washed or dry cleaned. To iron acrylic painted fabrics, use a low heat setting.
Do I need other equipment or supplies to paint on fabric?
A set of good acrylic paint brushes, a sponge or two, and whatever stamps, stencils, and other applicators you have around the house (Q-tips, pens, scrunched-up plastic wrap, you name it!) will come in handy. If you want to blend colors, a painter's palette might be useful, although you can also use a china plate for that. You really don't need anything more to get started.
How should I get the fabric ready for painting?
If the fabric is new, always prewash it to remove any sizing, which can keep the paint from adhering properly to the fabric. You may also want to protect your work surface with newspaper or cardboard to keep paint from getting on things you don't want to paint.
What's a good first project for me to try?
How about adding some pizzazz to a pair of canvas sneakers, a silk scarf (you may want to try a paint specially formulated for use on silk,) a t-shirt or sweatshirt, a canvas tote bag, a baseball cap, or a small wall quilt? The possibilities are endless. Start with something small and inexpensive, so you can experiment without fear.

So you desire to be warm this winter... and you've heard parkas are hot even in arctic temperatures... but what's a parka? Originally, parkas had been worn by the Inuit and other Arctic peoples. The regular parka layout is actually "a pullover model outer garment built from caribou skin having a fur lining around the hood". The notion being that if animals could remain warm, humans could put on their skins and remain hot also, even in probably the most inhospitable conditions.

The fashionable parka jacket is built from synthetic resources and zips up the entrance for closure. Down-filled parkas are presently the norm, but synthetic fills can also be incredibly warm and more animal friendly for you vegans out there. Basically, parka jacket style has remained the same together with the exception of front zip closure, along with the use of breathable, fast-wicking water-proof outer materials. Inuit people today now hardly ever don the classic caribou skin parkas in favor of the modern equivalent.

The Warmest Winter Jackets - Arctic Parka Jackets
It might be a bit confusing to navigate the wide range of parka jackets that have adopted the name "parka". Parka has been adopted by firms like North Encounter and Bugaboo (and others) to essentially mean "super warm thigh-length jacket with a hood!". Even so, if it's a true parka you desire, it doesn't get any much better than the Canada Goose Expedition Parka, one of the best made garments you will ever own. Growing up in Canada, and having endured hundreds of minus thirty degree wintertime days, there simply no other jacket I would ever want hanging in my closet for cold days.
